Dark Pool

Dark Pool is also called Black pool.
Dark Pools are very similar to stock exchanges, where trades can be matched.
The difference between Dark Pools and other exchanges is that the orders in the Dark Pools are not visible,  the size and price of the orders are not revealed to other market participants.
The Dark Pools are mostly used by institutions and professional traders. 
Most of the time Dark Pools are highly regulated.
Because of institutions, there is more volume traded in the Dark Pools.
The name "Dark Pools" appear to be scary for many people with no understanding of the meaning.
Dark Pool is also called Black pool.
There are more types of Dark Pools:
  • Independent
  • Broker-Dealer Owned
  • Exchange Owned
